The one in Final Destination 2 is far more common than a bridge collapse or a plane explosion it's a traffic pileup on Route 23. Most fans consider that change a simple continuity error or a deliberate retcon.įinal Destination 2 is the 2003 sequel to Final Destination, following a new group of people and a different disaster. Unfortunately, Final Destination 5 does have a few problems as the movie takes place in 2000 instead of the original 1999. As such, Final Destination 5 takes place shortly before May 13, 1999, with some setting it in April. The end of Final Destination 5 perfectly lines up with the beginning of the first Final Destination. Both Sam and Molly die in the plane crash, which completely scratches every survivor of the North Bay Bridge collapse off of Death's list. They quickly realize that the airplane they're on is Flight 180, but they can't get off the plane with Alex Browning and the other group. However, that hope is quickly lost when a young man starts a scene, yelling about the plane's inevitable explosion. So, when they board a plane headed toward France, the audience briefly assumes that they'll live happily ever after. Sam and his girlfriend Molly are the sole survivors of the North Bay Bridge collapse at the movie's end.
